Smoked Cream Cheese

by

I know smoked cream cheese might sound a little weird, but there’s a reason this stuff went viral not too long ago…..It’s really dang good.

I love making smoked cream cheese on my Weber Kettle grill because it’s so easy and versatile. You can go with any flavor profile you like. In this recipe, I’ve highlighted a sweet and spicy version (cherry jalapeno) and a savory version (everything bagel).

Serve it up with whatever crackers or chips you like (Melba Toast is bomb if you can find it) and you’ve got yourself a party. No seriously, you can eat this by yourself if you want…no judgment here.

The options are as endless as your imagination.

How to make smoked cream cheese

This recipe couldn’t be any easier. You can even throw it on when you’re smoking something else and it doesn’t take much room on your cooking surface.

Smoking cream cheese is also pretty forgiving when it comes to cooking temps, but I like to keep it between 225 °F and 275 °F

Basically we’re going to season our cream cheese, top it with whatever you like (perfect time to raid the fridge or pantry) and smoke it for about 90 minutes.

That’s it. It’s ready to eat way too much of.

Smoked cream cheese variations

You really can go any direction you like when making smoked cream cheese, but here’s a few ideas if you want to get a little fancy. If you want to go the easy route, you can consider cinnamon sugar, hot honey, or raspberry chipotle sauce (a favorite of mine).

Cherry Cheesecake

Place the block of cream cheese on a bed of graham crackers. Top with canned cherry pie filling.

Jalapeno Popper

Top the cream cheese with leftover chopped brisket, diced jalapenos, cheddar cheese, and cooked bacon bits. (Because we smoke the cream cheese at low temps, you don’t want to use raw bacon)

Maryland Crab Dip (my favorite)

Mix lump crab meat with a bit of mayo, sour cream, diced green onion, chopped garlic, and old bay seasoning. Cover the cream cheese with this mixture. After smoking, finish with lemon juice and hot sauce.

Having accurate temperature readings is crucial to making great food on a grill or smoker. Here’s my go-to thermometers that I use every time.

Hi I got those a few years ago on Amazon Black Friday deals. I really like them. It’s a set of 6 and they come in handy. I like to do this one stuffed salmon dish with shrimp in them especially.
