About

I’m Dave, a.k.a. The Kettle Guy and If you couldn’t tell already, I LOVE my Weber Kettle grills. Whether it’s grilled, smoked, or barbecued….baked, braised, or fried….the Weber Kettle can do it all!

Ok, I may not have a career in late night infomercials, but it’s my dream to have a career in food! I’m here to share delicious recipes that ANYONE can make and to help spread the word that cooking with charcoal is FUN, EASY, and not just for dirty park grills that haven’t been cleaned since the Reagan administration.

Fire kills everything, right?

Football Sunday? Game on! Romantic surf and turf dinner for two? I’ve got you! Quick family dinners that don’t break the bank? That’s my middle name! (Thanks for that one Mom, who knew it would come in handy one day?)

Seriously though, with a family of 6 including a baby I’m pretty much always feeding a crowd.

The Kettle Guy was founded in 2020 after I found myself with a little extra time on my hands. Originally from New England, I’ve always loved food and cooking, but it wasn’t until I moved to Dallas in 2011 that I found my true passion – charcoal grilling and BBQ!

Now, my dad did actually teach me to make some pretty good pulled pork back when I was a kid, but the first time I had some real Texas brisket was life changing. It was kind of like when Luke Skywalker first used The Force.

As much as I enjoy Texas barbecue, I might love Tex-Mex even more!  Tacos, after all, might just be perfect food. You’ll find more than just brisket and burritos here though my friends.

I love showcasing the versatility of my grills and I love trying new foods even more! I view cooking as a combination of art, science, and passion, and I’m always experimenting with ingredients and techniques.

I like to get “chefy” now and again, (Ok, my wife will tell you it’s more often than not) but I’m definitely no food snob. Give me some pizza and a beer and I’m good.

When it comes to grilling there’s only three absolutes. First, don’t boil your ribs. Second, don’t put ketchup on your steak. And lastly, don’t use lighter fluid to start your dang grill. Other than that, anything goes!
